Thanks Sparklin!! Very Happy

These are pictures of the current view from my backyard in the Arctic and the backyard in Panama, which we will be returning to shortly.

The 'Arctic beer and wine fridge' was mentioned by Eileen in a previous post. We had a full house of visitors last week and the in house fridge was full. No problem, we have a second outdoor fridge.

We're in Panama about seven months of the year.  As much as I would like to avoid the frozen North we have to spend a required number of days here to maintain our health coverage in the Northwest Territories.  The Arctic winters are so long it's impossible to avoid some of the winter months. Usually, the temperatures begin to moderate in March, but not this year. It's been as low as -36C in the past couple of weeks. It's beginning to creep into the single digit negative temperatures, but not fast enough for me, or my PMR.

I have to say - I'm hoping I can persuade David to have a trip to Panama! Not during the months you are in Hay River mind...

Even single digit negative numbers sounds pretty cold to me. I'm not surprised you have a Panama alternative. Still, the alternative outdoor 'fridge sounds  handy.

That icicle is really impressive.

Jean

Is it no possible to reverse the three months?  Or is that me, being too simplistic?

I looked at Hay River when you first joind and me being nosy asked where lived as I have relatives in Canada  (widespread I might add). I remember that the spring thaw looked wonderful and I thought at the time, that would be when I wanted to go see............

Mavis, I wish we could escape all the cold months. However, winter up here lasts 8 months so it's pretty tough to totally avoid the freezing temperatures. We have to be here for 153 days of the year to maintain our NWT health insurance. 😏

I remember when you checked up on my location when I joined the forum. You mentioned seeing a television show about the spectacular spring breakup of the Hay River.  It's just beginning now with the rising of water levels in the south.  It may sound weird, but the water in the Hay River flows south to north. As things begin to thaw in Alberta the water level builds up and eventually pushes the water and ice north.   It really is a sight to behold. We'll miss it this year though as we head back to Panama shortly.
